Monkey Picked tea

Often, ‘Monkey Picked’ refers to the highest quality tea, which is picked from higher elevations and less unattainable terrain than other varieties. One such legend around monkey picked tea is that it was presented as tribute to Emperor Qian Long in 1741 and, for many years, was enjoyed exclusively by the Imperial Court. Over time it slowly became available to more mainstream society.

London based culinary epicureans Edible are now selling monkey-picked tea. Devoid from any historical roots, it comes in beautiful minimalist packaging.
